Generally, the
Canadian kitchen mixes the native base with the influence
of different communities of settlers that went arriving
to this land throughout the centuries. Just in Toronto
are mixed more than 60 communities, although the Chinese
and Italian are those of greater presence in which to
gastronomy related. In the Terranova State, the codfish
and the fin pie are the most popular plates, while in
all the Atlantic coast excellent fish and seafood can
be tasted.
The city of Quebec is famous by its French influenced
gastronomy and many restaurants offer the most typical
plates of the Gaul kitchen with some American touches.
On the other hand, in the prairies regions are typical
the excellent meats, while in British Columbia the salmon
is the absolute protagonist. In the northern territories
it’s necessary to taste the gray codfish and the
Arctic trout.
The Canadian beer is of good quality. There are different
marks and types, like ale pilsner and the German type
ones. The wine is produced in the Ontario and British
Columbia regions and has an acceptable quality.
