Museum
of Contemporary Art of Montreal
Founded by the Quebec Government in 1964, its mission
consists in promoting and conserving the contemporary
art of Quebec, guaranteeing at the same time a presence
of the Canadian and international contemporary art through
exhibitions and numerous promotional activities.
Only institution in Canada dedicated exclusively to the
contemporary art, the Museum offers a varied programming,
from the presentation of its permanent collection to temporary
exhibitions of work of Quebec, Canadian and international
artists. The permanent Collection consists of approximately
6000 works, among them the more important it’s the
work collection of Paul-Emile Borduas.
In addition, the Museum presents numerous multimedia creations,
works of new dance and experimental theatre, music, video
and cinema which confirms its place as diffuser of the
contemporary art.
