Museum
Point de Calliere
On 17 May of 1642, in the place where the Saint Lawrence
river and a smaller river formed what soon was known as
Point à Callière, father Vimont celebrated
a mass by the foundation of Montreal. 350 years later,
Pointe-à-Callière, the Montreal museum of
History and Archeology would open in this same place on
17 May of 1992.
The Museum of Pointe-à-Callière is the result
of the important archaeological discoveries that took
place during the 80´s. The museum is really an integral
part of the archaeological site, where the remarkable
architectonic rest are contained and protected, with an
in situ exhibition of hundreds of devices and objects.
