Redpath
Museum
This museum is a unique interdisciplinary unit within
the College of Sciences of the McGill University. It contains
and exhibits collections of old and modern organisms,
minerals and ethnological devices. The Redpath museum
is one of the oldest in Canada: it was opened in 1882
and there are exhibited the valuable collections of sir
William Dawson, a recognized Canadian naturalist.
Initially thought for university professors and students
only use, in 1952, the museum widened its sights until
becoming a public museum of natural history.
