Museum
of Quebec
The collection of the museum includes more than 20,000
works produced mainly in Quebec between the colony beginnings
and today. The museum began to mount its collection at
the early 20´s. Throughout the years, this nucleus
has grown through donations and legacies of collectors
of the families of the artists or the artists. The works
are divided in four historical periods: early art (17th
century-1900), modern art (1900-1950), contemporary art
(1950-2000) and present art (2000-today).
In addition to its permanent collection, the museum has
a collection of works on loan, where they acquire works
of artists active in Quebec at the moment and assure his
diffusion renting them to the government ministries or
the corporations and the Quebec delegations in the foreign.
