Art Gallery
Founded on 1931, is the greatest Canadian art museum west
of Toronto and among the four greatest of Canada. It occupies
an important historical building in the Vancouver downtown,
the former provincial Palace of Justice, renewed during
the 80´s by the Canadian architect Arthur Erickson.
The complex of the building includes four floors with
exhibition halls and an exhibition space for the permanent
collection. Its work is the acquisition, public exhibition
and art work interpretation, mainly of contemporary artists.
It’s internationally recognized by its permanent
collection of almost 7000 works of art. In addition to
its collections of contemporary and British Columbia art,
other collections of the gallery include modern British
painting, 17th century Dutch painting, American art of
the 60´s and modern painting of Quebec.
