Western
Canada
The State of British Columbia is the third in extension
of Canada. It has more than 8,000 kilometres of coast
in the Pacific Ocean, in addition to forests, mountainous
chains, rivers and lakes. It was in the 17th century when
the presence of European begun, being the commerce of
skins the most popular activity of the British settlers
during the 18th and 19th centuries. The capital of British
Columbia is Victoria, located in the Island of Vancouver.
Its aspect is totally British, with interesting buildings
like the Parliament, the Empress hotel and the Royal British
Columbia Museum. In the old part of the city, a labyrinth
of streets and squares, outstands the Bastion Square.
In the same Island of Vancouver are also natural places
of great beauty like the National Park Pacific Rim, in
the western coast, the city of Nanaimo and the Strathcoma
Provincial Park, the oldest of the region.
In order to visit the British Columbia coast the best
thing is to take one of the many boats that make cruises
by their coast. Other interesting places inside British
Columbia are the mount Robson, Glaciers and the Wells
Gray Parks.
The most important city of the State, and third of Canada
is Vancouver. Most of the interesting places of the locality
are in an area that can well be known walking. The route
can begin in Stanley park, with its forests, footpaths
and lakes, to continue by the sport port of the city,
the aquarium, the Canada Place, old pavilion of Canada
in the celebrated Universal Exhibition in 1986, and the
museum of Anthropology, one of the most important of Canada.
